Hiking shoes for wide feet can be challenging to find, especially without having a store to go into these days and try them on.
I recently ordered the Adidas Terrex R2 hiking shoes as an everyday shoe. Mainly because it is a waterproof shoe.
I was kind of skeptical at first because Adidas tend to fit a little small. But I can tell you right out of the box, I wear a size 14, and this is one of the best fitting shoes that I've had fit right out of the box.
They have a Gortex waterproof lining in them. On the bottom, they have a continental tread.
I was finally able to get out hiking with these. We went hiking to a waterfall, slippery rocks, and these worked excellent on the slippery rocks.
They also worked very well on the Rocky terrain that was off and on, on the hike.
They feature a speed lacing system and the laces can be cut to length. And although these did perform exceptionally well out on the wet rocks and the rocky terrain, again, they are just a shoe.
So it was a little bit hard on the ankles on the rocky terrain. I've worn these in the sun and because of the Gore-Tex lining, they do tend to get pretty hot on sunny days, so that's something to think about.
Overall, this is a great shoe if you have a big foot or a wide foot. I wear a size 14.
