Century Bag Gloves:

I bought these a while ago, don't remember what store, but I bought them for sparring in our Wing Chung school. Also for Escrima, our weapons system at the school is Escrima. If you don't know what Escrima is, it's a Filipino martial art using the sticks.
These gloves are used not only for sparring in class when we're beating each other up but also for knuckle protection when I'm using the sticks.
As I said earlier, I'm not particularly sure where I bought these but I went with them because they were the only kind I could find in the stores. Unless you want to take the time to wait and order online.
There are multiple versions available now online and they do make some with an open palm, I believe they're MMA gloves.
These actually were, like I said earlier, bag gloves and they came with this foam piece in the middle of the palm. I cut that out using a box cutter knife. That way it's not in the way when I make a fist. The foam was there for kind of a grip when you're a punching a bag, however, it doesn't allow for a very good grip on the stick.
So cutting it out of there allows me to use these for multiple purposes, not just sparring, but also when we're using the Escrima sticks.
If you have a heavy bag, obviously they are good for that too. You'll want to get a pair of these if you're doing any kind of sparring or heavy bag work, not only for the protection of the person that you're sparring with but also for your knuckles.
If you don't you could scrape your knuckles and hand when hitting the focus mitt or heavy bag. This is what the gloves will protect your hands from. Cause we don't want to spread any bloodborne pathogens around. You want to keep everybody safe, not just yourself, make sure everybody's safe.
